Francisco Martín Abreu, President, CEO & Founder

An industrial engineer with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Francisco Jesús Martín Abreu is president, CEO and founder of Optenet. Upon completing his doctoral studies, he worked as a researcher on numerous projects for international R&D companies, including the European Space Agency (ESA), Construcciones Aeronáuticas, S.A. (C.A.S.A), and the Center for Industrial Technological Development. In addition, Abreu has participated in various government research projects, authored multiple publications and has a deep working knowledge of the IT field. In 1997, his career took a dramatic turn when he developed WebFilter, the first European Internet content filtering tool, and founded Optenet.

Omar Aguirre Suárez, Chief Operating Officer

Omar Aguirre, chief operating officer, has led Optenet’s broad expansion and globalization. Prior to joining Optenet in 2007, Aguirre was the logistics and R&D director at the Mexico Research and Development Center. A mechanical engineer, Aguirre received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering along with his European Doctorate from the University of Loughborough (UK) and the ENIT (France).

José Miguel Martín Abreu, R&D Director

José Miguel Martín Abreu leads Optenet’s research and development efforts. Prior to joining Optenet, Abreu earned his degree in Physical Sciences from the University of Amsterdam and went on to complete his Ph.D. in Physical Sciences at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. His work at the Institute for Industrial Automation, a branch of the Scientific Research Center (CSIC) in Spain, provided the expertise and knowledge that make him an industry expert across academic and scientific communities.
